Most businesses that come to us for a redesign do not actually want a new logo. They want the one they have to stop looking dated, to work on a phone screen, and to survive being printed small. That is a different job to starting again, and it usually costs less.

When a refresh is enough

If customers already recognise your mark, throwing it away wastes something you paid for in time rather than money. A refresh keeps the shape people know and fixes what is actually wrong with it. Common problems we see:

• The logo only exists as a low resolution JPG, so it blurs everywhere it is used
• It was drawn for print and falls apart at small sizes on screen
• The type is dated, or uses a font nobody can license any more
• There is no version that works on a dark background or on a photo

When you are better off starting again

Sometimes the honest answer is that the existing logo is not worth saving, and we will tell you that rather than charge you to polish it. In that case a full logo design is the better spend, and we will say so before you commit.
