Style Guide

A style guide is an alternative term for brand guidelines — the document that specifies how all elements of a brand identity should be used. In some contexts, 'style guide' refers specifically to the document governing the use of a particular brand's identity, while 'brand guidelines' refers more broadly to all aspects of brand expression including tone of voice and content principles. In practice, the terms are used largely interchangeably. A comprehensive style guide covers the logo and all its variations, colour palette with precise specifications, approved typefaces and typographic rules, photography and illustration guidelines, icon and graphic element usage, and examples of correct and incorrect applications. The purpose of the style guide is to ensure that everyone who uses the brand identity — whether internal staff, external agencies, or third-party partners — does so correctly and consistently.
