PDF (Portable Document Format)
PDF, or Portable Document Format, is a universal file format developed by Adobe that preserves fonts, vectors, layouts, and images exactly as designed, regardless of the software, operating system, or hardware used to open the file. In logo delivery, PDF files are particularly valuable because they are vector-based (when exported from vector design software), universally openable without specialist design software, and retain full quality at any print size. Many commercial printers accept PDF files directly for production. For clients who need to supply a logo to a printer, signmaker, or embroiderer without access to Adobe Illustrator, a PDF is often the most practical vector format. PDF files can also be opened and edited in Adobe Illustrator, making them a useful editable vector format for situations where the original AI source file is not available.
