Mood Board

A mood board is a curated collection of images, textures, colours, typography samples, and reference materials assembled to capture and communicate a desired aesthetic direction or brand personality before the design process begins. Mood boards serve as a visual briefing tool, helping designers and clients establish shared visual language and align on direction before any logo concepts are created. They draw from a wide range of sources: photography, illustration, architecture, fashion, graphic design, packaging, and art. A well-constructed mood board does not prescribe what the final logo will look like; instead it defines the emotional register and visual vocabulary it should inhabit — bold and geometric versus soft and organic, contemporary and minimal versus rich and heritage, playful and irreverent versus authoritative and serious. Presenting mood boards to clients early in the process helps surface misalignments in expectations before they become costly mid-project revisions.
