Comp
A comp — short for comprehensive layout — is a detailed, near-final mockup of a logo applied in context. Comps are used to present logo concepts to clients in a realistic setting, showing how the logo would appear on actual applications such as a business card, a website header, a shopfront sign, or branded packaging. Unlike flat logo artwork on a white background, comps help clients visualise the logo functioning in the real world and make it easier to evaluate proposals with confidence. Photorealistic mockup templates — available from design resource platforms — allow logos to be placed convincingly on products, environments, and media. The quality and realism of comps significantly influence how clients perceive and respond to logo concepts. A strong logo presented in well-chosen, high-quality comps is far more compelling than an equally strong logo shown only as flat artwork.
