Visual Identity
Visual identity is the broader visual language of a brand, encompassing not just the logo but the complete system of visual elements that together represent the brand consistently across all touchpoints. This includes the logo and all its variations, the colour palette, the typography system (primary and secondary typefaces), the photographic or illustration style, any supporting graphic elements or patterns, icon systems, and layout principles. A strong visual identity is coherent — every element feels as though it belongs to the same family — and distinctive — it is immediately recognisable as belonging to one specific brand rather than any other. The visual identity is the tangible, visible expression of brand strategy; it translates the brand's values, personality, and positioning into a visual language that communicates consistently with the intended audience. Developing a comprehensive visual identity system is a broader and more complex undertaking than designing a logo alone.
